Acer Iconia Tab W500 Review
The Acer Iconia Tab W500 is another solid offering from the Taiwanese company and it is appropriate for those who want to accomplish many things with minimal hassles. It offers the functionality of a netbook and the mobility of a tablet, which gives users the best of both worlds. The aesthetic design of the Iconia Tab W500 will not go unnoticed and its flexibility ranks among the best. At 3.6 pounds, the Tab Iconia W500 is on the bulky side, compared to its competitors. Its features also make the tablet looks like a top performer, with 10.1” TFT LCD touchscreen display. It supports 720 video playback and the 1280×800 pixels resolution allows for wide viewing angle and life-like picture.
It is powered by AMD C-50 dual-core processor, 2GB DDR3 dual-channel RAM and integrated Radeon HD 6250 graphic card, which is powerful enough to run Windows 7 Home Premium OS. It has a 1.3Mp dual-camera and very efficient 32GB of internal storage. It comes with Acer ring control interface, which makes the Tab W500 a delight to use and especially user friendly. Just like typical many netbooks, the TabW500 comes with full-sized HDMI port that can deliver 1080p audio outputs as well as two full-sized USB 2.0 ports, which allows you to add typical peripherals, such as USB mouse, which can be useful when the tablet is docked. However, as good as it may seem, the Tab W500 still has a few quirks. Although it delivers acceptable performance, the Dolby advanced audio doesn’t deliver the quality it promises. When undocked, the interface can feel a bit crowded and difficult to handle with finger.
Despite its few drawbacks, the Acer Iconia Tab W500 is still good hybrid device, which would be a good buy for those who are unfamiliar with iOS and Android, but still want the mobility of a tablet.
