Acer Iconia W3-810 Could Be The First Windows 8 Tablet With Smaller Display Size
Microsoft has relaxed its display resolution and size requirements for Windows 8 devices a few weeks ago. This should allow device makers to choose different aspect ratios and smaller form factors. A leaked detail from Amazon may indicate the start of a new wave of Windows 8 tablets with smaller screen.
If the listing of Acer Iconia W3-810 on Amazon’s page is accurate, we could be seeing a tablet with 8.1” display and 1280 x 800 resolution. Originally, Microsoft sets the lowest horizontal resolution at 1366 pixels. The current crop of Windows 8 tablets use 16:9 aspect ratio and being less elongated, the W3-810 is more usable for reader apps.
Amazon’s Product Information reveals that the tablet has about 8 hours of battery life and weighs 1.1 pounds. It was previously rumored that the W3-810 is to be powered by 1.5GHz A4 processors, which is used by Apple’s devices, but that’s obviously an error. Instead, a benchmark result from GeekBench shows that the tablet comes with the Intel Atom Z2760 processor under the hood.
