Once considered high-end, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 lineup is now in the mid-range category. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 features 1GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor, 10.1” (1280 x 800) PLS display, 16GB of onboard storage and 1GB of RAM. Specs-wise, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 looks nearly identical with the original Tab 10.1, but the difference is obvious externally.
The new tablet now has a matter silver finish that’s immune to both scratches and fingerprints. Another tweak is speakers placement, both of them now flank the display, allowing better stereo performance. Volume may get respectably loud under ideal condition, although some lower-pitched sounds can get lost amidst other noises.
The Tab 2 10.1 still uses the same 2Mp front shooter, but unfortunately the 3Mp rear camera is no longer supported by the LED flash. Thankfully, the thinness of Tab 2 10.1 doesn’t directly translate to skimpy batter life and it can last for nine hours on a single charge, The tablet runs Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) layered with TouchWiz UI on top, which looks similar to the skin used by the Tab 2 7.0.
