Sony has sent the Wifi-only variant of the Xperia Tablet Z to the FCC, which confirms previous reports that the model will make a trip to the US. Like the smaller Xperia Z smartphone, the tablet is also ruggedized against dust and water exposure.
It boasts 10.1 (1200 x 1920) display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, 6000mAh battery and microSD card slot. There’s an 8.1Mp camera on the back of the 6.9mm thin chassis. The phone is also expected to run the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.
Previously, the Xperia Tablet Z made first appearance in Japan, followed by European countries. The 16GB and WiFi-only version will be priced at $500 and the 32GB slightly more expensive at $600. As of now, the 4G LTE model is only available in Europe.
