A Nexus 7 Unit is Reported to Burn While Being Charged

Google-Asus Nexus 7 is among top tablets out there and it is a solid combination of hardware and software. Nevertheless, it is recently known that the tablet is affected by a specific hardware defect. This fact has come to light when a user reported that his device burst to flame while being charged overnight. Apparently, the user found charred remains of the tablet in the morning with the back entirely melted out. This could only be an isolated incident and the first reported case since the official launch in July.

Of course, there’s always a possibility that the user faked the incident for some unknown reasons. Either way, the tablet is completely unusable as shown by the posted image. Noting the controversy stirred by this incident, Asus has quickly replaced the device with a brand new unit.

This could be an alarming situation because the real cause isn’t clearly known. Previously, there was also a report about Galaxy S3 that burst to flame and subsequent investigation spotted a possible foul play. The owner was known to use microwave to dry up his wet Galaxy S3 unit.
