Toshiba Excite 10 LE Review

Toshiba Excite 10 LE

Toshiba Excite 10 LEMany of us have had high hopes for Toshiba Thrive, which was released last year. Unfortunately, it was really a disappointment, because it didn’t rise to our expectations. Now the company changes gears and tries to make one of the best tablets in history. The Toshiba Excite 10 E is so thin and interesting; it may have no rival in the same category. The gadget looks admirable and would looks completely suitable on anyone’s desk. The Toshiba Excite 10 LE is just 7mm thick and the chassis quality easily tells us that it’s a premium tablet that you need to buy immediately. The tablet weighs only 535 grams , which allows you to hold it comfortably with only a hand.

The 10” IPS display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, which offers highly accurate colors. Sharpness is good enough that you can read smaller objects without a pair of glasses or magnifying glass. The wide viewing angle might become one of your favorite things about the screen. Unfortunately, despite the presence of “digitizer” feature, which is supposedly can improve touch-based experience, sometimes you need to sink your finger to get proper reactions. Some users also report flickers and back light bleeding, which is detectable when the tablet is used in a dark area.

With such a company like Toshiba behind it, it is understandable to expect a powerful processor. Instead Toshiba uses an older 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processors, which is unsuitable for an otherwise exquisite tablet. And although it has 1GB of RAM, it doesn’t exactly compensate the drawbacks. However, since the tablet doesn’t use Ice Cream Sandwich, the performance could be more than you’d bargained for. The photography capability is also a bit disappointing. Although photos are not grainy and photos offer accurate colors, they look a bit washed out. The battery offers 9 hours of operational time and that’s fully proven. The 16GB version costs $549.99, while the 32GB version $599.99. For some, this could be a huge price to pay for something that fails to leave a lasting experience.
