Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9
Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is a direct improvement over the original Kindle Fire and it sets to impress loyal Kindle users. The 8.9” display comes with 1920 x 1200 pixels review, while many other tablets come with higher resolution, the screen still looks reasonably sharp. There’s a TI OMAP 4470 dual-core processor running inside; although performance is decent, it doesn’t compare with tablets running latest quad-core SoCs.
The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 runs a heavily modified form of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and it is hardly recognizable compared to other ICS tablets in the market. The tablet comes with a number of interesting features including the X-Ray, which offers direct access to IMDB database and FreeTime which delivers child-friendly multimedia platform.
Thanks to its impressive 8.9” HD display, Amazon’s latest tablet looks reasonably solid. However, the tablet is loaded with offers to purchase Amazon contents and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 won’t offer much value if you have no use of Amazon’s content.
