Those who are eager to get a Windows 8 tablet should keep an eye for Samsung’s upcoming slate, the ATIV SmartPC. The tablet will feature both Microsoft’s distinctive tile-based interface, but it still includes the legacy Windows OS UI we are all so familiar with. Specs-wise, the tablet will feature an 11.6” HD PLS display, 1.5GHz Intel Clover Trail dual-core processor and 64GB of internal storage.
The 4G (LTE) support will further sweeten the deal and users should be able to surf online with amazing speed in tow. Currently, Samsung Galaxy Tab lineup is a staple on the Android side and it is interesting to see how the ATIV SmartPC will fare? There’s no getting around the simple truth that the ATIV SmartPC is a powerful device. However, the tablet is feels noticeably thicker and heavier at 750 grams and nearly 20mm thick.
The ATIV SmartPC will also include a clamshell-shaped keyboard, allowing the device to turn into a makeshift notebook. The company hasn’t yet indicated its pricing, but it should be priced roughly similar to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
