The original Padfone was released earlier this year and the new Padfone 2 could eventually win plenty of fans as it’s a smartphone that can be slotted into a portable dock, creating a tablet. It should be pointed out that this first leak was released on a China forum, with an image purporting to be the box package of the Padfone 2.
According to the box, the Padfone has a model number A68, which follows on nicely from the A66 model number used by the original PAdfone. Features and specs listed include a 4.7” Super-IPS Plus 720p display, 1.5GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The 13Mp rear-facing camera comes with HD video recording capability, autofocus, LED flash and zero shutter lag.
Other features are 2140mAh battery, microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi. The handset will weigh 135 grams and has a thickness of 9mm. One snag with this leaked image is that the box says the Padfone 2 has Super-AMOLED diplay, instead of Super-IPS Plus. This could be a printing mistake or a hint that the box is fake.
